The obligation to contribute to the tranquility and pleasure of it all can change all social order and cause the absence of reason. I can't turn back now, or the passions of my guilt will run me through like a knife, but I deserve it, the barren soul that I am. I have been beaten down and shown to be unworthy of you. Why not just give up now, without feeling all the suffering and pain of my wounded soul.
